About Me
Hi,
I’m Barry Morris.
I Help Leaders Excel in Leading Trauma Transformation
For 20 years I have invested my work life in helping children and young people reach their potential. Most of my career has focussed in particular on understanding the impacts of childhood trauma and doing all that is within my power to help children heal.I have learnt a few lessons along the way and by far the most important piece of wisdom I have benefited from is this:
Be the change you wish to see in the world

When dealing with a complex problem (like the impact of childhood trauma) there are 5 key ingredients to not only surviving, but maximising our healing potential:
Clarity of Purpose. Know your why. Whether it is about calling or service or overcoming evil, or social justice and the rights of children – you need to know, and stand firm on your Purpose.
A Clear Mission Map. Know your how. Have a good enough understanding of trauma, how it impacts the child and the system and community around the child, and know your role in the healing journey.
Connected Teams. Know your who. The Team that supports you, the Team you lead, and the Team around each child or young person, their most adoring fans and most supportive adults.
Aligned Goals. Know your what. It’s all well and good to have a great bunch of people around a child, but they need to be heading in the same direction, otherwise there is way too much hard work going against others who are trying to be helpful.
Sustainable Impact. Know yourself. No good being a one hit wonder, a sprinter who can only do 100m. Transforming trauma is a marathon, and we need to look after ourselves to keep on keeping on.
Unfortunately this wisdom is under-utilised in a system that focuses on the individual child, looks for problems and solutions that relate to individual needs, and spends little time considering the system-impact. It’s time to do something about that.
MY MISSION
Has not changed since I was 17 years old. I was created and gifted to help children and young people reach their potential. This started with one child, one family at a time. Now I am privileged and equipped to expand my impact by empowering and equipping leaders to lead with passion and purpose, and a roadmap.
The impact of trauma is to dis-integrate a child’s neurobiology, then in turn dis-integrate the child’s support system. If we truly want to be Trauma-Transforming, we need to find a way to integrate – system first, then family, then child.
